Publication Ethics
The editorial board of BESLI in its work is guided by the international ethical rules of scientific publications, including the concepts of decency, confidentiality, supervision of publications and prevention of possible conflicts of interest, etc.
Adherence to the rules of ethics of scientific publications by all participants of the publishing process helps to secure the rights of the authors to the intellectual property, to improve the quality of the publication and to prevent the possibility of misusage of the copyrighted materials in the interests of the individuals. The journal’s policies are the base of the journal’s review and publication.
Responsibilities:
The Editor-in-Chief and members of the editorial team of BESLI in making the decision to publish the article shall be guided by the accuracy of the data submitted and the scientific significance of the work under consideration. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which of the submitted articles will be accepted for publication and which ones will be rejected. In doing so, he/she guides the journal’s policy and adheres to the juridical principles, preventing copyright infringement and plagiarism.
Principles followed by the peer-reviewers and their responsibilities are stated in the Peer-Review Policy and are part of publication ethics of the journal.
Objectivity:
The Editor-in-Chief evaluates a manuscript unbiasedly and solely by its scientific content, regardless of the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, nationality, citizenship, origin, social status or political views.
The objectivity in evaluation of a manuscript by the reviewers is reached by using the “double blind” type of peer-review in which the referees remain anonymous to the authors and the authors are likewise unknown to the reviewers.
Authorship:
BESLI publishes original papers with confirmed authorship. Plagiarism is not tolerated in any form. The Editor-in-Chief does not allow the paper submitted to be published if there is a reason to believe that it is plagiarism. Anti-plagiarism policy is an integral part of publication ethics of the journal.
The paper, when published, is publicly available and the copyright is owned by the authors and by the publisher. BESLI maintains a policy of open access to published material further described in Open access policy.
Authors hold the copyright without restrictions. Authors are permitted to post their final PDF-files provided by the journal BESLI on their personal or institutional websites and transfer, if necessary, these files into archives.
Agreements & statements:
The relations between the journal and authors are regulated by the License Agreement.
The responsibilities of the authors on the correctness and originality of the information, absence of any conflict of interest are stated in the Declaration of Non-conflict of Interest.
Research misconduct policy:
The Editor-in-Chief, together with the publisher, should not leave unanswered the claims concerning the manuscripts under review or the materials published. In case of a conflict situation, they must take all the necessary steps to restore the violated rights and, in case of errors, to promote the corrections of publication or its denials.
In case of suspecting the research misconduct at the pre-publication stage, the work on the article must be stopped and the authors and authors’ institutions are contacted for explanations.
Post-publication corrections & retraction:
If major errors have been revealed post-publication or in case of the proved research misconduct after the materials were published, the corrections of the scholarly record must be made. If substantive errors are found they are to be followed with the correction notice. In case of pervasive errors, the article is to be replaced or retracted. If the errors, which are found post-publication, are not correctable or the research misconduct is proved, the article is to be retracted as specified in the Retraction of Articles.
Conflict of interest:
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team members who have a conflict of interests caused by competition, collaboration or other relations with any author or organization(s) associated with the author(s) of the submitted material should not participate in the discussion of the manuscript submitted.
The reviewer should not accept the manuscript if there is a conflict of interest caused by competition, collaboration or other relationships with any authors or organizations associated with the article.
Editors should require all contributors to disclose relevant competing interests. In case of revealing competing interests after publication, the corrections should be published. A retraction or expression of concern may be published if needed. Reviewers bear the responsibility for objectivity, professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality of the maintenance of article estimation.
